Who we are
Situated between Rome and Napoli, along the ancient Appian Way, lies the town of Itri—a place shaped by centuries of connection, movement, and gathering. Built around its medieval castle, Itri long served as a passageway for trade and communication, fostering a culture rooted in hospitality, resilience, and community.
At the turn of the 20th century, many of Itri’s families carried those traditions with them to America. Among them were our grandparents, who settled in Cranston, Rhode Island, bringing a deep respect for southern Italian cuisine and the enduring belief that food is meant to be shared, savored, and experienced together.
That philosophy continues to guide ITRI Ristorante.
Long known as Caffé Itri, the restaurant has been a cornerstone of the local dining scene for generations. Today, ITRI Ristorante moves forward with the same spirit that defined its beginnings—connection, warmth, and intention—now expressed through a modern Italian steakhouse experience. The menu and atmosphere have evolved, creating a space that feels more dynamic and social while remaining grounded in the traditions that shaped us.
“Our goal was never to reinvent who we are,” says Head Chef Christopher Lombardi. “We wanted to refine the experience—bringing more energy to the room, elevating the bar program, and creating something that feels both timeless and current.”
With its renewed focus and elevated ambiance, ITRI Ristorante honors the journey from Itri to Rhode Island, welcoming both longtime guests and a new generation of diners to gather around the table.

Fresh and delicious Italian favorites perfectly paired with award winning wine selections are our hallmark. Since 1990, we have been providing the finest traditional and contemporary cuisine. Our guests enjoy the intimate and friendly atmosphere of our Tuscan-inspired bar and dining rooms, and al fresco dining on our beautiful outdoor patio is quite popular on warm summer and fall evenings.

Our chefs and staff are family and we work as a team to create the traditional dishes our patrons have come to enjoy for over three decades. Using local and imported ingredients of the highest quality, all of our food is prepared fresh daily.
Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator
We carefully chose each wine on our extensive list to pair perfectly with our dinner menu, but don’t take our word for it – ITRI Ristorante has received the prestigious and exclusive Wine Spectator Award of Excellence every year from 2003 to present.
Over 250 bottles of award-winning wines are stored in our temperature controlled wine cellar. Dozens of our wines are offered by the glass and these selections are preserved with our temperature-controlled Nitro-Tap System, ensuring that each glass is as fresh and enjoyable as the first.
Private Parties
Our dining room is available weekdays to host private functions. Our close proximity to St. Ann’s Cemetery makes funeral collations convenient. We also host business meetings and other functions. Our professional managers and staff create a sophisticated affair in a relaxed and comfortable setting.
